Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? You’re not alone. We’ve grouped our most common questions below so you can quickly find what you need—whether you’re looking for recreational classes, camps, team info, or general policies.

General Information

  • VIGS is conveniently located just off Genito Road (just past the River City Sportsplex) in the Oak Lake Business Park at

2400 Oak Lake Boulevard, Midlothian, Virginia 23112.  Our phone number is 804-276-7039.  Click here for directions.

  • All registration and billing is done via the iClassPro application. All classes are auto-enrolled to help families keep their spot in the class. A two-week notice is required if cancelling after the drop-date. Notices are sent out prior to the drop date via email and posted at the gym.

  • Families with two or more children enrolled in our recreational classes during the same term will receive a 25% discount. The discount is applied to the lower-priced tuition. Additionally, a single student enrolled in two recreational classes during the same term will also receive a 25% discount, applied to the second class only.

  • Yes! We offer a FREE trial class. Register here, choose the class you want to try and select "Free Trial".

  • VIGs does not offer private lessons directly. However, as a courtesy, we can collect your information and share it with instructors who may be available to schedule private instruction. Private lessons with more than three students must be approved by management. All scheduling and payment are handled directly with the instructor.

  • You can call us at 804-276-7039, email us at info@vigsgymnastics.com

  • Our office is open Monday - Thursday, Saturday & Sunday. We will post all closures related to holidays and special events on our events page.

  • VIGs does not automatically follow city or county school closings for inclement weather. Any official class cancellations will be announced on our voicemail at 804-276-7039, posted on our website, and/or social media pages.

Make-up information for classes cancelled by VIGs will be shared at the next regularly scheduled class.

  • For the safety of our students and competitive athletes, flash photography is not allowed in the gymnasium areas. Photography is strictly prohibited in all restroom areas.

  • No, pets are not permitted in the facility, with the exception of service animals.

Recreational Classes

  • Children can start gymnastics at 18 months in our Parent/Tot classes. These classes are designed for our youngest gymnasts to explore movement, build confidence, and learn basic skills with a parent or caregiver by their side. Please note that for all independent instruction classes (where parents do not participate on the floor), gymnasts must be toilet-trained.

  • You can register for classes online here. Once you select your child’s class, you’ll be able to complete enrollment and payment through our secure registration system.

Students may register at any time, on a space-available basis.  A student who registers after the start of any given term will have their tuition pro-rated to reflect only the number of classes they will be attending.

  • Gymnasts should wear comfortable, athletic clothing that allows for safe movement, such as a leotard or a fitted t-shirt with shorts/leggings.  We do not allow crop tops or sports bras worn alone. Hair should be pulled back, and no jewelry should be worn. Gymnasts will participate barefoot.

  • Yes! VIGs welcomes parents and guests to observe classes from our designated seating and waiting areas. For everyone’s safety, please follow these guidelines:

    • Parents, siblings, and guests must remain in the seating area behind the plexiglass barrier at all times.

    • Only gymnasts who are currently enrolled in the class in session are allowed in the gym area.

    • Adults and children who are not enrolled may not use any equipment or matting at any time.

    • Gymnasts should remain seated in the waiting area until class begins and should not enter the gym before or after their scheduled class time.

  • We offer make-up classes for students who miss their regular class. Make-ups are available only in classes that have open space (not full). When a class is missed, a make-up token is automatically added to your iClassPro account. Tokens are valid for 60 days, and families may hold up to 5 tokens at a time.

  • Yes! On the fourth week of every other term, students receive a progress report that highlights individual areas of progress and includes a recommendation on whether they’re ready to move to the next class level. Students may also be promoted at any time during a term if the staff feels they are ready.

  • To celebrate progress and encourage skill development, gymnasts receive a participation ribbon at the end of each term. It’s a fun, colorful reminder of what they learned and accomplished. We also offer our Medalist Program to recognize outstanding attendance. At the end of our final term each year, gymnasts will be awarded:

    • Gold Medal: attendance in 8 or more terms

    • Silver Medal: attendance in 7 terms

    • Bronze Medal: attendance in 6 terms

Camps

  • Our camps are designed for school-age kids who are ready for a full day of activities, movement, and fun. Campers must be school-age to attend.

  • Monday - Friday

    Hours:

    Half-Day: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

    Full-Day: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

    Extended Day: 8:00 am - 5:30 pm

  • Campers should wear comfortable, athletic clothing they can move and run around in—leotards are welcome, but not required. Please pack a lunch, a snack, and a water bottle each day so your child stays fueled and hydrated for all the fun!

  • No—campers should bring their own snack and/or lunch, depending on the length of the camp session. Please also send a water bottle each day.

  • To cancel your athlete's camp registration you must call the office at 804-276-7039. There is a $75 fee to cancel and no refunds are available.

Competitive Team
  • Athletes interested in joining our Competitive Team can request to attend our Spring tryouts. We recommend that gymnasts have either completed two or more VIGs recreational sessions or have previous experience on a competitive team, so they’re prepared for the training schedule, expectations, and commitment of team practice. Visit our competitive team page here, or reach out to our Head Coach, Laura Toro at vigs.laura@gmail.com

  • VIGs offers two competitive pathways: Developmental (Junior Olympic) and Xcel. The Developmental (JO) program follows a more traditional, structured training track with higher time commitment and progression through levels, while Xcel offers a flexible competitive option with individualized routines and a training schedule that can better fit an athlete’s goals and availability.

  • The time commitment for practice increases as athletes progress to higher levels. Depending on level and program, schedules can range from 2-3 hours a day, a few days a week to 4–5 hours a day, 5 days per week. You can see the schedule for each level here.

  • Competition locations vary by level and program. Our lower-level athletes typically compete at local and regional meets, while higher-level and senior athletes may travel out of state (in some cases even internationally), depending on the season and qualifying opportunities.

  • This depends on the level your athlete is competing on, as well as the number of competitions during the season. Please reach out to our Head Coach, Laura Toro at vigs.laura@gmail.com.

"My daughter has been a VIGS gymnast since the parent/tot days and now competes on the team. It's been a joy to watch her grow her skills, confidence, and friendships. The coaches truly care, and as a parent, I love knowing she’s safe and supported every day."

- Amanda V.

Our experience with VIGS has been nothing short of amazing. The coaches truly care about each athlete’s growth, both in skill and confidence, and they create such a supportive and uplifting environment. The teammates are encouraging, kind, and genuinely cheer each other on, which makes a huge difference.

My daughter loves this gym and her team!!  Since joining, she has thrived in both skill and sportsmanship. The culture at the gym wonderful.  Coaches train each athlete to the best of their ability and their personal goals. My daughter's teammates are like family and we are so happy for all that she has accomplished while at VIGs!!
Rheda M.
VIGS has been such a special place for our daughter. The culture is truly something special in gymnastics—so positive, supportive, and fun. The coaches genuinely care about the kids as people, not just athletes, and it shows in everything they do.
Kira K.
Great gym with a wonderful facility, caring/courteous staff and very attentive coaching. The owners take pride in investing in the gym and it shows as soon as you walk through the door. My daughter loves it at VIGS. Highly recommend!
Destinee C.
Our daughter has basically grown up here, and we’ve seen her confidence and love for the sport grow over the years. It’s more than just a gym to us— an important part of who she’s become.
